Yellowstone Backpacking (August 2021)

We woke up to a damp campsite, but nothing had gotten inside my tent. As this was our day out camping, we looked at other trails in the area.
Hiking around all of Heart Lake was too far (17 miles) as the trail left the southern lakeshore for some ways. We decided to do part of it, though,
heading south as far as Lake Sheridan (more of a pond, really) before turning around. On the way, we saw an impressive set of antlers, as well as
wild raspberries and a rather friendly marmot.

After eating lunch, Richard volunteered that we'd passed a hot stream near the trail on our way in, which flowed from some of the geothermal features,
and that we should try soaking our feet in that. He was a little off as to how far back it was (2.5 miles, one way) but the water was delightfully hot,
and leech-free.

Weather was pleasant in the evening, and I turned in a bit early, while Rich and Drew stayed up chatting by the lake. Over the relatively quiet night,
we heard both owls and wolf howls.
